EduPaid Delayed Start Dates
EduPaid 2.1.0 introduces delayed start dates, bringing flexible payment timing and streamlined enrollment to educational payments.
- 🕰️ Delayed Start Dates – Providers can now set delayed start dates for student payments. Payment starts when learning starts, ensuring fair billing for actual service periods only.
- 🎯 One-Click Enrollment – Single-visit enrollment with no need to return for separate payment setup. The entire payment flow is consolidated into a single seamless experience.
- ⚡ Flexible Payment Timing – Students only pay from the date the provider has set, matching actual service usage and creating a smooth onboarding flow for students too.
Timeback Anti-patterns
Timeback has now shifted to a realtime setting again as opposed to generating reports later for parents. This is being worked at in the production codebase directly, earlier pipeline code is now on hold. The architecture is vastly different in the production backend, where some optimizations and improvements were made this week.
- ⚡ Performance Optimizations: Improved development iteration speed in the production codebase. Being a realtime system, it took about 10 minutes to process a 18 minute video during testing. Now it takes under a minute. Modified the flow to be able to utilize concurrency wherever possible.
- 🔧 Critical Bug Resolution: Resolved memory leak vulnerabilities in the core codebase infrastructure. Earlier where 3 minute or longer chunk used to throw out of memory errors, which was due to frame extraction, is now handled gracefully.
- 🔬 Improved Metrics Calculation: Poked some holes in the current way of calculating performance metrics in the production codebase and why it needs to change. Details present here: Metrics Calculation
- 🧪 Research & Experimentation: Conducted extensive analysis on various video chunk sizes:10sec, 30sec, 1min, 2min and 5min. Impacts beyond performance: latency, lambda limits, scalability. Detailed analysis report coming soon.
